Shannen Doherty claims ex Kurt Iswarienko is purposely delaying divorce

Shannen Doherty has accused her estranged husband, Kurt Iswarienko, of intentionally delaying their divorce to avoid paying spousal support.

The actress, who is currently battling stage four cancer, claimed the cameraman was purposely waiting until her condition worsened.

“It is simply not right that Kurt should abandon his responsibilities to his dying wife of over 11 years while at the same time allowing himself to postpone our divorce in the hope that I will die before he can demand payment from me,” Doherty, 53, said in the filing.

Lawyers for Iswarienko, 49, denied the allegations, claiming he wanted the divorce to be finalized in September 2023 and offered the former “Charmed” star a settlement offer that she rejected.

According to the filing, Doherty rejected the settlement agreement with Iswarienko because he “was not prepared to accept the terms of the settlement.” [their] I asked him why he “got married” and how much money he made.

The “Heathers” star, who filed for divorce after 11 years of marriage in April 2023, asked Iswarienko to pay $15,343 in monthly spousal support, plus $9,100 in attorney’s fees.

She also sought $11,800 in additional costs incurred “in efforts to obtain Kurt’s complete answers” for the legal process.

According to the documents, Doherty expects her income to be “significantly” reduced this year because she is unable to work due to “recurring health issues.”

“Almost all of the income I make now is residual income from the work I did before I got married,” she said.

“I recently learned that Charmed will no longer be available on any major streaming platform after June 30, 2024. As a result, my future income will be significantly reduced,” she continued, referring to her time on the WB show from 1998-2001.

The “Let’s Be Clear” podcast host also expects a “significant increase” in medical costs when his SAG health insurance lapses, given that he’s unemployed.

She cited a $21,640 medical bill she received in 2023 as an example, arguing that since Iswarienko regularly spends the money on luxury items and experiences, there should be no problem with helping her pay for it.

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission two years later.

In 2020, she revealed that the cancer had returned and spread to her brain and then to her bones.

Ms Doherty acknowledged that as her condition worsened, she had been slowly preparing for death by sorting through her belongings to “ease the transition” for her mother Rosa.

She even gave up her dream of living in Tennessee with a few horses.
