It appears Caitlin Clark isn’t the only WNBA player with a “special whistle.”
As Angel Reese receives well-deserved accolades for being the first WNBA rookie to record a double-double in seven consecutive games, video has surfaced that shows her receiving some… shall we say… assistance from the referees on multiple attempts to score.
During the Sky’s 83-72 win on Thursday night, Reese intercepted a pass and drove to the basket, but also took a double dribble, at least one carry and appeared to be guilty of a possible traveling offense, though he didn’t commit a foul.

WNBA referees are reportedly the lowest paid of all professional sports referees, yet the league seems to get paid accordingly. The video you just saw is the natural by-product of a terrible sports league that was unable to draw audiences and could only survive on the corporate support of other sports suddenly being thrust into the spotlight by inheriting a totally undeserved treasure trove of youthful star power and talent.
The league wasn’t ready for the big stage and that’s clear. When will they be ready? Only time will tell.
Speaking of other leagues, is travel just an issue in the WNBA? No, it’s not.
Check out this clip from parent organization, the NBA.

this.
The NBA is calling for travel this season because they want to avoid another virus-related incident. They’ve almost overcorrected the issue. That was emphasized in the offseason and will continue after this absence. pic.twitter.com/fnlfjThWwK

So Angel Reese shouldn’t be featured here specifically because she’s traveling. butHow can you accuse the umpire of blowing the “special whistle” on Caitlin Clark after a loss, and then less than a week later commit serious crimes and misconduct on the court and have nothing said about it?
Ah, yes, that’s out. Angel, think about yourself. It looks like the umpire has a “special whistle” for you too.
