“In prison, you have to get a little more creative,” says the 26-year-old. “I only know this from my research. I’ve never been to prison — yet!”
“I’ve always had a passion for skin care and makeup,” she told The Washington Post, “so it was just the path I wanted to follow.”
For the video, Violette “did her homework” and studied YouTube videos of women in prison sharing their beauty tips for being in prison.
A licensed esthetician, she previously worked as a model and began posting fashion looks on her Instagram Stories in 2018, catching the attention of big brands such as Forever 21, Fashion Nova, and Oh Polly.
Started posting on TikTok in 2020.
At first, Violette mainly uploaded fashion-related content, but she noticed that her occasional makeup videos were well-received.
“So I thought maybe makeup would be my main content on this platform,” she recalls.
Her first “challenge” was in 2022, where she “put on a full face of makeup using my mom’s makeup. From there, the challenge suggestions just kept coming in, and now here we are.”
