Judge Judy Sheindlin handed down the verdict on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s indictment against former President Trump, calling the case “nonsense.”

The prominent TV pundit told CNN host Chris Wallace that as a “taxpayer of this country” he was outraged that Bragg was “game-ing the system for his own personal gain.”

“So is that what you believe the district attorney did in Manhattan?” Wallace asked in an interview broadcast on Max on Friday.

“I agree. I mean, if you look closely, it takes some brain-wrenching to figure out what the crime was,” Sheindlin said.

A jury last month found former President Trump guilty of all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records and concealing a $130,000 payment made to porn actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign to silence her about an alleged 2006 affair with Trump.

“As a Manhattan property owner, I would much rather the New York County district attorney take down the criminals who are making it impossible for citizens to walk the streets and use the subway and try to keep them off the city, rather than spending $5 million or $10 million of taxpayer money suing Donald Trump for this nonsense,” Sheindlin told Wallace.

When asked what he thought of Trump, the 81-year-old former Manhattan Family Court judge said, “I think he was a great businessman, a great real estate agent, and he was a great performer on ‘The Apprentice.'”

But Sheindlin, a political independent who supported former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley in the 2024 Republican presidential primary, offered a harsher assessment of Trump’s term as U.S. president.

“I don’t think Donald should have been president,” Sheindlin said. “I don’t think Donald even thought he would be president.”
