The Yankees looked to bolster their depleted relief corps, signing familiar face Chasen Shreve to a minor league contract on Saturday.
The 33-year-old left-hander opted out of a minor league contract with the Rangers last month after appearing in 20 games with Triple-A Round Rock, posting a .761 WHIP in 22 1/3 innings.
He played for the Tigers and Reds last season, appearing in 50 games and posting a WHIP of 1.343.
Shreve pitched for the Yankees from 2015-18 before being traded to the Cardinals in 2018 along with right-hander Giovanni Gallegos for Luke Voit.
The Yankees have been in desperate need of bullpen bolsters recently due to injuries and increased strain, and have made a series of roster changes in recent weeks.
The team acquired left-handed sidearm pitcher Tim Hill on Friday and designated left-hander Victor Gonzalez for selection, one day after also designating another left-hander, Clayton Andrews, for selection.
