‘Really Sad’ that People Fall for Trump’s ‘Sick’ Rhetoric

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” on Monday that it’s “really sad” that people are being fooled by former President Donald Trump’s rhetoric.

Cooper said, “I have to ask you what the former president has to say about January 6th. The former president has called the people charged with attacking police officers and invading the Capitol on January 6th hostages. He’s called them political prisoners. At a recent rally in Las Vegas, he called them warriors. I mean, do you think that if he’s re-elected, he’d seek to pardon the January 6th defendants? But as someone who was there and had to flee, how does it make you feel to hear him use language like that?”

“I think that’s pretty awful. I always like to quote our national anthem, ‘We must prove that our flag remains through the night,’ and we must prove it through all the obstacles that he claims. It’s really sad that people fell for that, but the facts are we must prove that our flag remains by showing the difference. We’re talking about honoring our men and women first responders in uniform. Let’s do that. Let’s not glorify the people who attacked them or call them warriors. Over 100 police officers were injured that day and some died because of it,” Pelosi said.
