Border Patrol intercepts multiple illegal immigrant sex offenders in a single weekend

Border Patrol agents said they intercepted several sex offenders attempting to enter the United States over the weekend amid ongoing concerns about criminals entering the country.

Border Patrol Captain Jason Owens announced that seven previously convicted sex offenders had been detained at the border.

He said the crimes include rape, aggravated sexual abuse and assault and unlawful contact with a minor.

“These are people trying to evade capture,” he said.

Aside from this, Tucson Sector Arizona State Police announced the arrests of two more felons over the weekend: Mexican nationals convicted of aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated abuse of a minor.

The border crisis has raised concerns about the number of criminals who may be apprehended and released by Border Patrol agents, or who may evade capture and smuggle themselves into the United States as “fugitives.”

The latest illegal immigrant crime news comes one week after two illegal Venezuelan immigrants were charged with the murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston, Texas, after authorities said she was lured under a bridge where the suspects tied her up and killed her.

The arrest came in the same week that an Ecuadorian national was illegally arrested in the United States. Sexual assault in broad daylight Police say a man with a machete raped a 13-year-old girl in a park.

Last week, police announced the arrest of an illegal immigrant from El Salvador for the murder of Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother of five. The horrific crime is part of a series of crimes committed by illegal immigrants across the United States.

The Border Patrol has apprehended more than 13,000 individuals with criminal histories so far this fiscal year, closing in on the 15,267 apprehensions in fiscal year 2023 and already exceeding those in fiscal year 2022 (12,028) and fiscal year 2021 (10,763).

Encounters at the southern border in May totaled 170,723, the lowest month so far this year and the lowest May since President Biden took office, but the crisis remains the top political issue in the U.S. and is expected to play a key role in CNN’s upcoming presidential debate on Thursday.
