Angel Reese, who suffered her second loss to Caitlin Clark, said the WNBA’s recent surge in popularity is It wasn’t It’s all down to Caitlin Clark alone.
Well, Angel Reese isn’t going to like the results of the new WNBA viewership numbers.
Looking at the numbers released by Fox Sports’ Michael Mulvihill yesterday, it’s clear that Caitlin Clark is carrying the league on her shoulders.
WNBA viewership this season, all networks:
Caitlin Clark matches – 1,184,000
All other games – 428k
All games from this time last year – 301k
— Michael Mulvihill (@mulvihill79) June 25, 2024
The numbers don’t lie: Clark has more than doubled viewership of any other WNBA game and is nearly four times as high as viewership last year when she was not in the league.
It’s no secret that Caitlin Clark is a star in the WNBA. Damn it.
The last two matches between Clarke and Reese drew 2.5 million and 2.3 million viewers respectively, meaning that his rivalry with Reese no doubt played a part in those numbers in some way, but aside from those exceptions, Clarke has singlehandedly driven fan interest in every match.
These numbers also explain the real reason opponents attack Clark so frequently and violently: It has very little to do with race; at this level of basketball, everyone plays with people of other cultures and ethnicities; no, the resentment toward Clark is born out of jealousy and envy.
In the video, Angel Reese can be seen trying to convince herself that this isn’t just about Caitlin Clark.
Angel Rees spoke to the media for the first time since being fined.
“We’re not just watching women’s basketball for one person. We’re watching it for me. I want people to realize that.”

I’m no expert on body language, but I would venture to say that the more someone shakes their head up and down or looks up to the sky, the more obvious it becomes that they don’t actually believe what they’re saying.
Either way, there’s no need to use body language. The numbers are in and they speak for themselves. This is Caitlin Clark’s league. Everyone else is just playing in it.
