Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the far-left congresswoman from the Bronx and Queens, tried to give online support to Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who she lost in the primary, but tagged the wrong social media user in her message.
“The son of a single mother. Grew up in public housing. Devoted his life to teaching. Became a principal. Founded a renowned school for the youth of the Bronx. First black elected teacher.” [sic] Representative from NY16. Members of the “Squad” say they have never received a cent from the company. Post to X This came hours after Bowman was defeated by Westchester County Mayor George Latimer.
“A true public servant,” Ocasio-Cortez added of Bowman, 48, while tagging another X user with the same name who lives in Germany but has only 65 followers.
Bowman’s critics, already in a jovial mood, were quick to point out the error.
“She tagged the wrong Jamal because she knows him too well,” “Off Limits” host and columnist Ian Howarth responded.
“You can tell AOC is very upset about this because you tagged an account that hasn’t tweeted in 12 years and their last tweet was a funny joke about putting her head in an oven,” one X user said. Ironic.
“At a time when the urge for moral conviction is strong, @AOC tagged the wrong Jamaal Bowman,” another person mocked her post.
“Where are the ‘diligent fire alarm testers?'” added Will Chamberlain, senior counsel for the Article 3 Project. “It’s definitely an oversight.”
“She forgets about rape deniers and 9/11 conspiracy theorists,” posted Aviva Klompas, a former speechwriter for Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations.
“Jamaal Bowman. He pulled the fire alarm at the Capitol. [sic] “It was during the session. He called the rape of Jewish women ‘propaganda,'” the writer said. Rachel Moiselle ” “I said, mocking AOC’s praise of Bowman.
“You send your own children to expensive private schools, yet you pressured New York to ban the city’s poorest children from attending public schools because of COVID,” she added, blasting him as “true shanda” in Yiddish.
“I’m definitely going to miss Jamal’s political rallies,” “Dear America” host Graham Allen said before sharing a clip of Ocasio-Cortez’s bizarre cameo at a Bowman rally in the Bronx last weekend.
During the event, Bowman picked up a chair and slammed it on the stage, chanted “Cease fire now,” and then hurled expletives at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
“We’re going to show AIPAC the power of the f**king South Bronx,” he yelled at the sparsely attended rally.
Ocasio-Cortez, 34, urged supporters to “take our country back” and re-elect Bowman, but clumsily knocked over her microphone in the process.
The democratic socialist won a primary on Tuesday against political newcomer and former Wall Street banker Marty Dolan, securing his fourth term in the heavily Democratic district.
While Bowman may not have taken “corporate money,” in Ocasio-Cortez’s words, he did receive campaign contributions from employees through his leadership PAC. According to political finance tracking site OpenSecrets.org, these companies include Apple, Google and JPMorgan Chase.
The Bowman campaign also received about $3,700 from Ferris Gellman, a former Wall Street banker who has donated his fortune to anti-Israel causes, including anti-Semitic tent camps on U.S. college campuses.
