The fascinating story of an Uber Eats driver who spent a year and a half delivering food as a side hustle to a soon-to-be bride to help her have the wedding of her dreams is touching hearts – and wallets – around the world.
Paul Slobosian became an instant social media celebrity last week after he delivered a Chipotle order to customer Erica Hernandez during his routine rounds in Phoenix, Arizona.
Along with the food, Hernandez found a handwritten note encouraging him to give a tip to the hardworking driver and his fiancee, Allie Perkins, at their wedding.
“It’s something like, ‘Thank you for your order. I’m driving on the side so my fiancé can have a proper wedding,'” Hernandez said. Fox 10 Phoenix.
Inspired by a notecard featuring Slobozian’s Venmo handle, Hernandez Reposted on TikTok With the caption: “Hope this reaches the right people.”
“I just felt like posting this and seeing if my friends and followers would donate,” she said.
Within hours, the video had gone viral, with people pitching in to give Perkins the big day she always wanted.
“[My phone] “The support hasn’t stopped since Friday afternoon,” Slobozian said. “Thousands of people have sent messages of support.”
“I never set out to leave these notes with the intention that someone would make a video about it or try to broadcast it to anyone other than who I delivered it to,” Slobozian said.
Now, not only have they met their wedding quota, but they can also afford to give Hernandez $1,000 and send out the invitations.
Slobozian said he is taking a break from his side business for the time being.
“We never thought anything would come of this,” Perkins said. “The fact that a stranger found our note, posted it on the Internet and felt the need to defend two strangers is just unbelievable.”
