Ohio Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno plans to run a statewide ad during Thursday night’s debate highlighting the close politics between President Joe Biden and Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio.
The six-figure ad buy will see the “In Tandem” ads air across broadcast, cable, digital and streaming services during the debate, Moreno’s campaign announced in an emailed press release.

The ad shows two men, believed to be Biden and Brown, riding erratically on a tandem bike through a park in Washington, D.C. One of the men, who resembles Brown, has “Riding with Biden” written on his helmet and sits on the back of the bike.
“Sherrod Brown voted for Joe Biden 99 percent of the time,” the video’s opening text reads. Biden and Brown “[c]Their combined term of office will be 100 years.

The video also criticizes Biden and Brown on border security and illegal immigration, saying Democrats oppose a wall on the southern border while simultaneously supporting “amnesty for illegal immigrants.”
He also highlights that prices are “rising 20%” in the “Brown-Biden Economy.”
The ad ends with a narrator saying, “Don’t let extreme liberals Sherrod Brown and Joe Biden rip through America,” as the two men leap out of the frame.
In addition, this video Just Like BidenA website created by Morno’s campaign prominently features Brown’s image and claims that she has “always supported Biden.”
The website also posted a video of Brown in which he said, “Joe Biden’s politics today are not that different from mine, and I think people are increasingly appreciating the job he’s doing.”
Given that Ohio has solidified its status as a Republican-leaning state in recent elections, Brown is one of the most vulnerable Senate Democrats up for re-election this year.
Former President Donald Trump, who supports Moreno, won the state by about 8 percentage points in both 2016 and 2020 after Democrats carried it for former President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. Trump’s victories were followed by Republicans sweeping statewide elections in the 2022 midterm elections.
