Prosecutors’ union supports recall of Soros-backed DA Pamela Price — chief assistant resigns

Price recently led an investigation into past misconduct in his office that he believes is what prompted the union to support the recall effort. Prosecutors allege that Alameda County prosecutors barred black and Jewish residents from serving on juries in death penalty cases from the mid-1980s until 2007. CNN report.

Price said at a press conference on Tuesday that the union supports his removal from his job.

“The prosecutors’ union has supported the recall all along. They’ve donated $125,000 to the opposing candidate’s campaign and raised an additional $75,000. At this point, the prosecutors’ union only represents a small percentage of the staff,” Price said.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, 85% of union members participated in the recall vote, but it is unclear how many votes were cast in support of removing Price from his position.

“Unfortunately, the timing is indicative of the fact that this office has a legacy and history of unethical behavior, and it’s something that obviously nobody wanted us to reveal or expose to the public,” Price continued. “We [the prosecutors’ union] “They have consistently opposed our efforts to reform this office and expose prosecutorial misconduct.”

She said her office’s investigation into death penalty cases was the union’s “final straw.”

“I believe prosecutors feel threatened by us investigating past prosecutorial misconduct. I believe many of the prosecutors in this office were raised with very different values ​​than the values ​​held by this community today,” Price added.

The Soros-funded California Justice and Public Safety PAC donated $700,000 to Price’s 2018 campaign.

The group behind the recall effort submitted about 123,000 signatures in March, The Blaze News previously reported, but about 73,000 verified signatures were enough to force a by-election.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Price announced that Chief Assistant District Attorney Otis Bruce Jr. had announced his resignation. July 13.

“I can confirm that Otis Bruce Jr. has resigned,” Price said. stated“He was part of the transition team. My experience with him was great. His impact on the office has been significant and will continue to grow.”
