Leftists love to label things like climate change as a “public health crisis” because it opens the door to abuses of government power and the erosion of our freedoms.
Yesterday, US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy formally declared gun violence a public health crisis and called for a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines for civilians.
Everything is a public health crisis right now! This time it’s guns!Youtube
Murthy also testified that “gun violence is the leading cause of death among children and young people ages 1 to 19,” which he said is simply “not true.” Sara Gonzalez.
“That in itself should disqualify anything he says on the subject, because it’s a lie,” added Eric July of Ripperverse Comics. “I’m really astonished that people continue to stoke it and that it continues to go unchecked.”
This gun violence public health crisis nonsense, July said, can only mean one thing: “What they’re trying to do is punish free people … people who have not engaged in aggressive behavior toward anybody, who have not committed any actual crimes.”
Sarah agreed and made some great points: “If they were really serious about gun violence, they would do something to clean up the streets of Chicago,” “They wouldn’t let violent criminals loose on the streets,” and “They’d probably do something about the drug cartels that are coming in and out of our country.”
But, of course, the point is not to protect Americans from gun violence, but to control gun violence.
Jaco Booyens points to New York City as a good example, where currently if someone commits a “sexual crime against a disabled person” they are “released the same day.”
“Don’t come to me because you want to fight violence,” Booyens said. “This is about taking power away from good Americans, silencing them and forcing them into submission so that Big Daddy Government can take control and take your life.”
