More Coronavirus Deaths Under Joe Biden

Claim: Coronavirus deaths have risen under President Joe Biden’s leadership.

Verdict: True. The coronavirus death toll in Biden’s first 10 months in office has surpassed the death toll under former President Donald Trump.

Biden opened Thursday’s debate by trying to blame Trump for the coronavirus pandemic, but Trump pointed out that there had been more COVID-19 deaths under Biden.

“The economy was plummeting. The pandemic was being handled badly and people were dying,” Biden said.

“We had COVID. We did a lot to solve it. I used all the treatments, everything we came up with, we created an incredible situation,” Trump responded. “We gave him great things. Remember, we had it almost solved, and yet more people died under his administration. More people died under his administration than under ours.”

Trump continued:

And we were right in the middle of it. It’s something a lot of people don’t want to talk about, but far more people died under his administration. He made it mandated, which was a disaster. Vaccines were distributed. He made it mandated, which was the thing people were most against when it came to vaccines. And he did a very poor job, really bad. And I tell you, not just there, but all over the world, we are poor. We are no longer respected as a country. They don’t respect our leaders.

In fact, as Breitbart News reported in December 2021, the number of U.S. deaths from COVID-19 in President Biden’s first 10 months in office exceeded the number of deaths recorded in President Trump’s first 12 months in office, a time when a vaccine for the virus was not even available.

At the time, Breitbart News reported:

Approx. 396,529 Under President Joe Biden’s administration, the US has already seen more deaths from the Wuhan virus before his 11th month in office than the entire number of US coronavirus deaths recorded in a year under the administration of Donald Trump.

Biden took office nearly a year after the first confirmed coronavirus case in the United States, but the death toll has more than doubled in his first 10 months in office.

Ironically, Biden Said During a debate with President Trump in October 2020, President Trump said, “Anyone who is responsible for so many deaths should not be able to hold the office of president of the United States of America.” The death toll at the time was about 220,000.
