Biden, Trump grapple with age question during historic presidential debate

Both President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump addressed the age-old question of their ages during Thursday’s debate.

When asked by the moderator, Biden, 81, urged voters to focus on his record and on the alternative: Trump.

“First of all, I’ve been criticized for half my career as the youngest person in politics,” Biden said, “and now I’m the oldest. This guy is three years younger than me.” [and] Much less capable.”

“Look at my record,” the president added, “and see what I’ve done.”

If elected, Biden will be 85 at the end of his second term.

Trump later bragged that he had taken two cognitive tests and made the results public.

“I’d love to see him take one, but it’s really easy. [one]” he scolded.

By boasting about his cognitive achievements, Trump sought to ease voter concerns about the possibility of completing his second term at age 82.

“I took the cognitive test twice and I got perfect scores,” he replied, before firing back at Biden: “I just want him to take one test, a really easy one. Just answer the first five questions. He couldn’t do it.”

“I’m in great health,” Trump continued. “I just won two club championships. Not the senior championships, I just won two regular club championships.”

“You have to be pretty smart,” he explained, eventually drawing Biden into talking about his own golf handicap in his rebuttal.
