Trump undergoing medical examination at the end of May, according to the White House

Trump’s Medical and Dental Check-ups Scheduled

President Donald Trump is set to have medical and dental examinations this month. This will mark his fourth check-up since taking office again, which the White House refers to as part of annual physicals and routine preventive care.

Turning 80 next month, Trump will be the oldest individual to be elected president in U.S. history. His medical evaluations will take place at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on May 26, according to a short statement released by the White House.

Trump’s health is under constant scrutiny. He mentioned last year that he regretted having heart and abdominal imaging tests, as they sparked public speculation about his health.

Notably, Trump has openly criticized former President Joe Biden regarding age and health matters. However, he recently claimed he feels in great health for his age, stating that he feels the same as he did 50 years ago. “I literally feel the same way,” he said during an event in the Oval Office, adding, “I don’t know why. It’s not because I eat the best food.”

He even joked about his workout routine, claiming he exercises “for at most a minute a day.”

Interestingly, Trump has considerable leeway over what health details are made public. Following his annual medical exam last April, his doctor reported that he is “fully qualified” to continue serving as commander-in-chief. Navy Capt. Sean Barbavera noted that Trump has shed 20 pounds since a 2020 medical review that indicated he was nearing obesity.

A few months after a noticeable trip in April, Trump experienced what the White House described as “mild swelling” in his lower legs, leading him to undergo further tests. It was found that he suffers from chronic venous insufficiency, a condition common in older individuals, where blood accumulates in the veins.

In the past, White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt mentioned that Trump had bruises on his hands, sometimes concealed by makeup, attributed to frequent handshakes and his aspirin use aimed at reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Last October, Trump had what was termed a “semi-annual physical,” where he also received his annual flu shot along with a COVID-19 booster. He later disclosed to The Wall Street Journal that he underwent advanced imaging for heart and abdomen as a precautionary measure.

Throughout his first term, Trump had at least four medical evaluations, excluding his stay at Walter Reed Hospital in October 2020 due to COVID-19.

The upcoming dental check-up will follow two recent visits to local dentists near his Florida residence, where he frequently spends his weekends. This examination is scheduled to occur about ten days after he returns from a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.
