President Joe Biden faced off against former President Donald Trump in the first presidential debate of the 2024 presidential election on CNN, and social media erupted with reactions.
Biden and Trump traded blows, with Biden’s remarks generally seen as weak and feeble, while Trump’s was aggressive and far more energetic. Many Biden supporters before the debate are in a state of panic.
“I didn’t think he was that bad. It’s surprising, really.”
Journalists and celebrities who watched the debate were shocked.
“Look, this debate was a total disaster for Biden. He looked old. His answers kept cutting off. Hard to understand. He kept stopping and moving on to other topics. I didn’t expect it to be this bad. I was shocked. Seriously.” Said Journalist Chris Cillizza.
“Tonight’s debate saw two candidates talking about the other being a threat to democracy, then ending up yelling at each other about their golf handicaps.” Said CNN reporter Edward Isaac DeBoer.
“The sad thing is, when you hear what Biden has to say, it’s wonderful, but he doesn’t have enough breath left to hear it.” Reply liberal actor Michael Ian Black;
“This is painful to watch.” Said Former NFL star JJ Watt.
“This is a Biden nightmare.”
Many on the right who are critical of Donald Trump were also shocked by Biden’s poor performance.
“Biden looks and sounds awful. He looks and sounds very old. Very old.” I have written Former Republican Rep. Joe Walsh: “Trump is Trump and every word that comes out of his mouth is bullshit. But Biden sounds old and lost, and that’s going to be more important than anything. Right now, this is a total nightmare for Biden.”
“Sorry, but I’m voting for President Biden, and so far it’s a disaster.” Responded Republican strategist Mike Murphy: “Tonight I’m going to go home, kiss my kids and wife goodnight, pour myself a hard drink, watch The Last Hurrah and have a quiet cry.”
“From what I’ve heard from countless viewers across the political spectrum, the consensus is that Biden needs to be replaced. The situation is worse than most people imagined.” Responded Conservative Alyssa Farrah Griffin.
“Forget about elections, this is getting into 25th Amendment territory.” Said Sarah Isgur.
“In boxing, if you get punch-drunk, the referee will call a TKO. I would be grateful if CNN would air the fight right now and put Biden out of his misery.” Said Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party’s official account Declared Biden won the debate.
