Houston girl allegedly killed by illegal immigrants to have funeral hours before CNN Presidential Debate

The funeral for slain 12-year-old Houston girl Jocelyn Nangaray is scheduled for Thursday afternoon, just hours before the CNN presidential debate, where immigration and US border security are expected to dominate the agenda.

Nungarei, who was allegedly strangled to death by two illegal immigrants last week, will be remembered at a memorial service at 2pm ET and then buried in a cemetery north of Houston.

“Though her time with us was tragically short, Jocelyn’s radiant kindness, boundless compassion and infectious passion for life left an indelible mark on all she touched,” her obituary read. “Rest in peace, beloved Jocelyn. Your light will continue to shine in our hearts, guiding us with angel wings.”

The two men accused of Nungaray’s murder, Johan Jose Martinez Rangel, 22, and Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, 26, were each charged with murder and had bail set at $10 million this week. Both men, from Venezuela, entered the United States illegally near El Paso, Texas, before being apprehended by Border Patrol and released. Nungaray was strangled to death early last week, and prosecutors say there are indications of sexual assault.

“There’s another immigrant murder by Biden. It’s only going to get worse and it’s all the fault of evil Joe Biden,” former president Trump wrote on his Truth social account after Nungarayi’s death.

“He is a disgrace to the presidency and a disgrace to America. I look forward to seeing him at the fake debate on Thursday,” Trump added. “Let’s make him explain why he allowed millions of people to enter our country illegally!”

A White House spokesman said last week: In a statement to NBC News, “Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Jocelyn Nangaray.”

“We cannot comment on ongoing law enforcement cases, but fundamentally, those found guilty of these types of heinous and shocking crimes should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement added.

House Democrats were filmed on video Thursday downplaying the role of illegal immigration in Nungarei’s murder, with one of them telling Fox Business, “I don’t know who she is.”
