Murder Charges Filed in Dismemberment Case

A couple from Georgia has been charged with murder after they allegedly killed a bartender and disposed of his dismembered remains in a lake, according to law enforcement.

Mario Andre Barber, 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42, were taken into custody on Monday in connection to the death of Jamal Rashad Parker, 37, at a residence in the Atlanta suburbs, as stated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Parker’s remains were discovered in May at Dog River Reservoir, which is located roughly 30 miles from Atlanta.

Authorities identified Parker through DNA comparison techniques after his father informed them that a tattoo on the body matched his son’s.

It is believed that Parker was killed inside Baker’s home in Douglasville.

In late September, investigators were seen removing a reciprocating saw and cleaning materials from the residence.

The police haven’t disclosed whether Parker had any prior acquaintance with the accused.

Interestingly, a GoFundMe established by Parker’s family described the suspects as “people they knew and trusted.”

Both suspects entered not guilty pleas during their court appearance on Tuesday and are currently held without bail. Reports indicate that both have extensive criminal backgrounds.

Parker’s father, Charles Parker, expressed his wish for the maximum penalty, stating, “I want them to be punished. I don’t think a life sentence is enough.”

He lamented, “It’s like what you see on TV, but… they had no remorse.”

Parker was known as a bartender at Icy’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta and was also a musician and artist, remembered for having a “beautiful soul and spirit,” according to the GoFundMe page set up to assist with funeral expenses.

The page reflected on his love for life and the people he encountered, highlighting that he was a creative individual who enjoyed mixing drinks. The family’s grief has left them heartbroken over this tragedy.
