Biden’s hit on Trump over ‘suckers’ and ‘losers’ report backfires with independents: focus group

President Biden’s attempt to attack former President Donald Trump over allegations that he called military personnel “stupid and losers” appears to have backfired for the president, with independents in Fox News Digital focus groups expressing dissatisfaction with Biden’s comments.

Biden blasted Trump over an Atlantic magazine report that said he had called service members who died in combat “morons” and “losers” – a story Trump has repeatedly denied.

During the debate, Biden responded to Trump’s claim that immigrants are allowed to stay in luxury hotels while military veterans are left on the streets, slamming Trump for his remarks.

“Everything he said is a lie. All of it. For example, since I passed the PACT Act, veterans have been so much better off. A million of them and their families now have insurance, because everything that happened, whether it was Agent Orange or the incinerators, was covered. And his group opposed that,” Biden said.

“We also have great respect for our veterans. My son lived next to an incinerator for a year in Iraq and came home with stage 4 glioma. I recently returned from the Normandy landings in France to speak about the heroes who fell. I went to the World War II cemetery, the World War I cemetery that my son refused to go to. He stood with four-star generals. [Trump] “I don’t want to go there because they’re full of losers and idiots,” he said.

“My son wasn’t a loser. He wasn’t a idiot. You’re the idiot. You’re the loser,” he told Trump.

Biden made a surprising omission while claiming that no soldiers had been killed “anywhere in the world” during his term.

But while Biden was speaking, his real-time approval ratings from Fox News Digital focus groups hit lows among Republicans and independents but remained high among Democrats.

Trump said that statement was not accurate.

“First there was the fake statement. Stupid losers. They made it up. It was published in a third-rate magazine that doesn’t sell like any other. They made it up. They put it in a commercial. I notified him. 19 people said I never said that,” he said.
