“Doctor Who” has been a fan favorite for 60 years, but that’s all set to change after recent viewership figures for Disney+ hit record lows.
“This show is not just bad, it’s a complete failure. It’s just awful,” Lauren Chen of Pseudo-Intellectual wrote, noting that “the show has been in decline for a while now.”
Since the first episode of this season, fewer and fewer people are tuning in to continue.
The problems started with the depiction of Doctor Who (now a black man dressed as a woman) and only got worse from there.
“They were so focused on pandering to black and queer people and getting them interested in the show that they forgot to welcome actual Doctor Who fans to the show,” Chen says.
“In fact, at times they did the exact opposite. They told fans not to watch the show if they didn’t like the progressive propaganda being force-fed to them. No joke,” she added.
The lead actor has urged people to not watch the show, telling critics in an April 2024 interview with Variety’s Elise Schafer: “Don’t watch it. Turn off the TV. Please, go touch that lawn.”
A drag queen who plays a villain on the show echoed the same sentiment.
“I know a lot of people won’t watch this season because Doctor Who is taking a decisive queer step, but if they do, they’ll understand that we’re just actors playing characters. If you don’t watch, then who should? I truly believe that for every fan we lose to transphobia, we’ll gain two or three new fans who are excited about trans representation,” Jinkx Monsoon said.
“What does that prediction mean to you?” Chen laughs.
