Russia Pretends Not to Care About Trump-Biden Debate, Then Dances on Biden’s ‘Coffin’

Russian state media initially downplayed Thursday night’s debate between former US President Donald Trump and US President Joe Biden, with the Kremlin blithely claiming that the US presidential election was “not our concern.”

On Friday morning, the tone of the Russia coverage changed, with state-run media gleefully reporting that Biden’s dismal performance had driven the “final nail” into his “political coffin.”

“That is not our concern. There are many issues that are more important for our country and concern us. These are the issues the president is focused on. Discussions over the United States do not fall under these priorities,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. Said When asked if Moscow was following the debate and its turmoil.

Peskov Claimed He was similarly indifferent to the changes in leadership of the European Union, deriding Kremlin officials as “not seeing any contribution from European diplomacy to the normalization of relations.”

Asked whether President Vladimir Putin had watched the U.S. presidential debates, he said: “I don’t think you can expect the Russian president to set his alarm clock to get up early in the morning for the American debates.”

“We have no intention of evaluating these debates. This is a US internal matter, a US election campaign. We have never interfered in a US election campaign,” he angrily said.

On Friday morning, Russian state media was very interested in “assessing” Biden’s blunder. For example, Sputnik reported: Asked California psychiatrist and author Carole Lieberman analyzes Biden’s performance.

“It appears he was taking some performance-enhancing drugs but either at a low or weak dose or failed to take into account that his cognitive decline had worsened since the State of the Union,” Lieberman said.

Liberman noted that Biden “had a blank look on his face, his voice was trembling and he looked like he could talk for a full 90 minutes but then he looked like he was going to collapse.”

“Biden exhibited classic signs of lying, including shortness of breath, stiffness, staring, shuffling and increasing difficulty speaking,” she said, determining that the sitting president’s biggest problem was “losing words mid-sentence.”

In contrast, Lieberman thought Trump seemed “much stronger and more passionate” about America’s problems and “his desire to solve them”, but he did take a few points off Trump’s display of his own “narcissism”.

“He needs to keep a low profile so more people can feel warmer towards him,” she advised.

Sputnik and the state-run TASS news agency it was fun Watching as the US left-leaning media “panic” over Biden’s poor performance, TASS has put together a small roundup of some of the best media analysts.

NBC News reported that a party strategist described Biden’s “nonsense” performance as “a nail in the political coffin” of the current leader and said “the Democratic Party has committed collective suicide.”

The New York Post echoed this view, writing that millions “witnessed the end of his presidency on live television” and argued that Biden’s continued bid for reelection was “political malfeasance and national malfeasance.”

Nicholas Kristof, a New York Times opinion columnist and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, said Biden should drop out of the presidential race if he doesn’t want Trump in the White House in January.

Citing several opinion polls, TASS reported that viewers believe Trump “crushed Biden” and “dominated the debate.”

Unsurprisingly, one of the favorite moments for TASS editors was when Trump accused Biden of “scandalizing ties with Moscow.”
