South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn told reporters on Friday that he plans to tell President Biden to “stay the course” despite his “poor performance” in last night’s debate with former President Trump.
“Anytime you see a performance that gets the kind of recognition that that performance gets, it’s a concern,” Clyburn, who helped pave the way for Biden to win the nomination in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, told Fox News senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram.
“There could be a lot of reasons for that,” Clyburn continued, “which will become clear, but you know, he’s in Raleigh, North Carolina today. I’m interested to see what happens today.”
Clyburn likened Biden’s debate performance to “strike one” in a baseball game.
