Residents in parts of Maricopa County, home to Arizona’s capital, Phoenix, have been advised to evacuate as a raging wildfire has burned more than 3,000 acres.
Maricopa County Emergency Management announced the evacuation order on social media Thursday night, starting in a specific block near Tonto National Forest.

The warning was later expanded to a larger area, including the Sunrise Desert Vista, Granite Mountain Ranch, Rio Mountain Estates and Vista Verde areas of Scottsdale.
“Be prepared for action. Bring prescription medications, water, snacks, identification and pets if needed,” emergency management officials said in a follow-up post.

The Boulder View Fire, which officials believe is human-caused, has already burned 3,200 acres. Zero percent The fire, which broke out Thursday afternoon, has been successfully contained, AZFamily reported.
About 60 people had been evacuated by 9 a.m. Friday, a spokesman for the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management said.
The flames reached lengths of 20 to 40 feet, according to social media posts from the fire department.
