During Friday’s episode of HBO’s “Real Time,” former MSNBC host Chris Matthews said President Joe Biden “has moved to the left, and that’s a problem. And he’s woke and all that kind of stuff, and that’s all a problem.”
Matthews said, “I think it’s the moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats who will decide the outcome of this election. Nobody talks about moderates. I’m one of them. To be clear, I’m what you would call a ‘non-hyphenated Democrat.’ I’m not a special interest group or anything like that. The Democrats have done a good job of creating everything that’s good for this country, like Social Security and Medicare, and they’ve created the American middle class. They’re progressive, but they’re steered in the middle. They’re not extremists. The American people are comfortable with them. Biden has moved to the left, and that’s a problem. He’s woke, and all of that is a problem. I think Al Franken should return to the United States Senate. He’s definitely the best senator we’ve had in recent times.”
