Caitlin Clark says nobody gives her advice during games

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark suggested she was navigating the WNBA waters without the advice of her predecessors, at least during games.

Clark was asked after the team’s 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm on Thursday night what the best advice he’d received from a veteran player during a game was.

“Nobody gives you advice during the game,” Clark says. “I wish they did.”

She was then asked about her own accomplishments, but made it clear that she wasn’t thinking too far ahead in her professional basketball career, only 19 games into it.

“Oh my gosh. I don’t know. We’ve played 19 games. I guess we just have to keep learning and keep on playing this game,” she added. “Obviously we’re a really young team so we’re just going to keep getting better every day. Just taking it one game at a time and helping this team get back to the playoffs is our main goal this year.”

The Fever fell to 7-12 after Thursday’s loss to the Storm. The team sits in ninth place, with the top eight teams advancing to the playoffs.

WNBA Commissioner Caitlin Clark scoffs at the idea that WNBA players are targeting her

Clark is averaging 16.2 points per game to lead all rookies. Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese is next with 13.5 points per game.

While they may not have received advice on the court, WNBA legend Candace Parker told NBC News’ Lester Holt at the Aspen Ideas Festival that when it comes to the business side of the game, she’ll tell Clark and Reese to own their own brand.

“I’ve been told that the sooner you understand the business side of things and the more questions you ask, the more people are willing to help you,” Parker added.
