‘American Idol’ judge Luke Bryan shares which stars have been ‘in the talks’ to replace Katy Perry on hit show

Luke Bryan is preparing to find out who will take the judges’ seat vacated by Katy Perry.

In a new interview BillboardBryan said viewers can guess who will take Perry’s place when the next season of “American Idol” premieres later this year.

“I’ve got a few names up my sleeve. I think Pink, Miley Cyrus and Meghan Trainor are in negotiations,” the “That’s My Kind of Night” singer told the outlet.

Perry announced in February 2024 that she would not be returning as a judge after season 22. The “Roar” singer joined the judging panel alongside Brian and Lionel Richie when the show was renewed for season 16 just two years after it was initially canceled, and served as a judge for the next seven seasons.

While Bryan has his own ideas about who should be on the show, he told Billboard that Perry is “perfect for the job” and that finding her replacement won’t be easy. That said, he thinks producers are “working hard to find someone who can take her place.”

Adam Lambert, a former “American Idol” runner-up who has had success in the music industry, has his own ideas about who should replace Perry.
