Biden increasingly relying on Hunter for advice post-debate, baffling WH staff

President Joe Biden has been hunkering down and consulting with those he trusts most: his family, including his son, Hunter Biden, a convicted felon, much to the embarrassment of White House staff.

After Biden’s disastrous performance in the debate against former President Donald Trump, the current president returned to Camp David to discuss his next steps with his family. First Lady Jill Biden and Hunter Biden were reportedly among those who passionately urged the president to continue the campaign. The family blamed the team that prepared Biden for the disastrous debate for six days.

NBC News Revealed On Tuesday, Hunter continued to attend meetings at the White House after his family returned from Camp David.

“While Hunter Biden is a regular attendee at the White House residence and events, it is unusual for him to be present at or near meetings his father is having with his team, the people said. Presidential aides were surprised that Hunter was there during the discussions, they said,” NBC reported. “One of the people familiar with the matter said Hunter Biden has been advising his father closely since the family gathered at Camp David last weekend after Thursday’s debate. The person said Hunter Biden has ‘popped up’ at several meetings and calls the president has had with advisers.”

The dam of Democrats calling for Biden to recuse himself from the election appears to have finally broken.

Senior White House officials have spoken out about Hunter’s presence, asking, “What on earth is going on?”

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed the reports at a White House press briefing on Tuesday.

Former press secretary Jen Psaki defended former White House chief of staff Ronald Klain and adviser Anita Dunn, who helped prepare Biden for last Thursday’s debate. Psaki said Biden was to blame.

“It was a terrible debate. There’s no doubt they were tough, strategic and forthright (I witnessed them in action), but preparation doesn’t always determine the outcome. Biden was terrible. This is an important conversation about what happens next, but if you’re directing your anger at ‘preparation’ you’re not talking right,” she said.

The dam of Democratic lawmakers calling for Biden to withdraw from the election appeared to have finally broken on Tuesday, when Rep. Lloyd Doggett of Austin, Texas, said Biden needed to withdraw from the election if Democrats were to have any chance of beating Trump.

Biden himself has said he will continue to campaign, though he may not be as forthcoming as before.
