Susan Smith, who has spent nearly three decades in prison after drowning her two sons, is optimistic about her upcoming parole hearing, reportedly telling one of several suitors in a recorded phone call that she’s served enough time behind bars.
Family New York Post Now 52, the notorious South Carolina inmate has spent the past few months confident that the Parole Board will release her from prison after a hearing scheduled for Nov. 4.
In preparation, Smith has been courting fans in earnest: The convicted murderer has had romantic and sexual encounters with at least 12 suitors over the past three years, according to phone records from Reese Correctional Institution reviewed by The Washington Post.

“It’s time for me to get out,” Smith told one of those suitors in a phone call earlier this year. “I’ve served my sentence. I’m ready to get out.”
In another conversation reviewed by The Washington Post, in March, she asked another man how she would support herself if she was paroled, to which he replied that her savings, gifts from her fans and a large amount of money from the sale of her family’s property would await her.
“Let me tell you what I did last night thinking about you. I created a spreadsheet that starts at $213,000,” the caller told the notorious inmate. “You’ll get a lot more than that. I think it’ll be about $220,000 all together.” [spend] 40,000 per year. While you are withdrawing from that balance, interest will accrue on the remaining amount.”

“In 20 years, we’ll have used up most of it,” he says, “but we’ll still have some left.”
“I love you so much,” Ms. Smith said after a pause.
“I love you too,” the suitor replied.
The conversation took a vulgar turn, with the man speculating about what Smith would look like in a wet T-shirt, The Washington Post reported.
“I’m going to let you sit in the passenger seat of my car,” the man said. “You’re a really naughty boy,” Smith replied with a chuckle.
“I have some ideas of what we could do, but I’m going to make you shake and squirm before I tell you what they are.”

“Hey, I’m already squirming and wriggling,” the man replied.
Late last year, she said: [his] She wanted attention and spent the morning pondering how she was going to meet his demands.
“I’ll wake you up in the morning,” she said shyly. “I’ll really wake you up.”

But experts told The Post that Smith is unlikely to be paroled on his first try and likely never will be.
According to South Carolina Department of Corrections records, Smith was convicted of two counts and began serving a life sentence on Nov. 4, 1994. Murder Predeceased by sons Michael Daniel Smith, 3, and Alexander Tyler Smith, 14 months.
With her two sons in car seats, Smith drove her car into John D. Long Lake in Union County, South Carolina, and watched as the car sank to the bottom of the lake and her two boys drowned.

Initially, Smith, then 22 years old, He told investigators She said a black man took her car while her two boys were still inside.
Days later, she appeared on national television with her husband, David Smith, in tears, pleading for his safe return.
“Your mother loves you very much,” she told a news conference.
But nine days later, she confessed, her motive allegedly being an affair with a wealthy man who did not want children.

Her future affair partner and former boyfriend, Tom Findlay, had written the letter that prompted Smith to drown the boys a week earlier, prosecutors said.
“Susan, I think I’m falling for you. But as I said before, there are some things about you that just don’t sit well with me. Yes, I’m talking about your kids,” he wrote. Deseret News.

David Smith, the father of two of the murdered children, has since remarried and had two more children. He and his family intend to fight Smith’s release.
“David still thinks about his sons every day and doesn’t want Susan to go out,” a relative of the man told the Messenger. “She deserves to be in prison… She deserves to be in prison and we will do anything to keep her there.”
Smith confirmed his intention to attend the hearing, the Post reported, while the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardons notified the victim’s family of the upcoming hearing.
