Shohei Ohtani’s 112 mph home run hits young fan in head at Dodger Stadium

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani hit his 27th home run of the season on Tuesday night to give his team a one-run lead late in the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

However, as fans at Dodger Stadium were cheering on Ohtani as he rounded the bases, a young fan sitting in the right field seats appeared to be injured by a home run ball.

A slow-motion video of Ohtani’s home run showed the ball hitting a child in the forehead while other fans tried to catch it.

The ball left the bat at 112 mph, and it is unclear whether the fan was seriously injured.

Shohei Ohtani! Juan Soto! Francisco Lindor? Home Run Derby wish list

Thanks to the home run, Ohtani and the Dodgers, who have not pitched this season since undergoing elbow ligament surgery in September, defeated a formidable National League West team, 6-5.

Ohtani’s batting average is .320, just behind the league leader in that category, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge (.321). Ohtani has passed Baltimore Orioles phenom Gunnar Henderson for second in MLB home runs.

Though he’s not on the mound, Ohtani is living up to the 10-year, $700 million contract he signed with the Dodgers this offseason, as he emerged as another National League MVP candidate after winning the American League award with the Los Angeles Angels.
