Hur Audio of Biden Shouldn’t Be Released, It Can Be ‘Manipulated’

Speaking on “CNN News Central” on Wednesday, Sen. Peter Welch (D-Vermont) argued that the audio recording of President Joe Biden’s interview with special counsel Robert Hur shouldn’t be released because it would politicize the investigation and because the audio “could be used and manipulated, especially with AI, with disinformation, with all sorts of things that can be manipulated.”

Co-host Briana Keilar asked, “Given what Mr. Hur said in his filing, should we listen to the tape of Biden’s interview with Robert Hur in the Hunter Biden case to allay concerns that some of what we saw and heard in last week’s debate may have been on that tape?”

Welch responded: “No, I don’t think so. To do that would be to politically manipulate going out. What we saw in real time in that debate is impossible to forget. The challenge the president faces is to overcome the fallout from that debate. And it has to be in real time. But I think justice is [politicization] “I don’t think these investigations should be used and manipulated in the context of AI, disinformation, anything that can be manipulated. So we’re having that discussion. The tape is a good indication of the challenges the president faces going forward.”
