Democrats in Trump districts are saying Trump is going to win: ‘I’m OK with that’

House Democrats from districts that lean toward former President Donald Trump have publicly declared that he will win the presidential election following President Joe Biden’s awful debate performance last week.

The admissions came as Democrats began to voice doubts about whether Biden can save his campaign.

Congresswoman Marie Grusenkamp Perez of Washington’s 3rd District said: Kathu The events that took place during the debate tipped the scales in favor of Trump in a race that was close before the debate.

“Unlike Biden and many others, I refuse to join Trump’s campaign to scare voters with the idea that he will end our democratic system.”

“About 50 million Americans turned on the TV to watch the debate, and I was one of them, and I had five very difficult minutes. We all saw what we saw, and there’s no changing that. I think the truth is Biden is going to lose to Trump. I know it’s hard, but I think the damage was done by the debate,” she said.

So far, she has not publicly said that this means Biden should withdraw from the presidential race, because “a fundamental principle of democracy is to accept the results of the election, and the reality is that the primary elections have already taken place and Biden is the nominee.”

In an op-ed published in the Bangor Daily News, Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) said it didn’t matter that he had no intention of voting for former President Trump because he knew he would win for months, “and I’m OK with that.”

“Unlike Biden and many others, I refuse to join a campaign to intimidate voters into believing that Trump will end our democratic system. To be astounded by Trump’s victory ignores the strength of our democracy. January 6, 2021 was a dark day, but the American people stood strong,” Golden wrote. “Hundreds of law enforcement officers defended our democratic process against thousands who sought to use violence to subvert it. Judges and state election officials defended our election laws. Members of Congress, including leaders of both parties, certified the election results.”

Golden added that this election is about the economy, not “democracy,” taking a completely different view from many Democrats.

It remains unclear whether Biden will continue in the race. As of Wednesday, efforts by Biden and his aides to stifle calls for him to resign appeared to be ineffective. If Biden were to withdraw from the race, it would be too early to change candidates, and Vice President Kamala Harris would most likely be the nominee, as liberal racial politics would be the deciding factor.

“The vice president is the obvious choice. She’s right up there. She’s been in the White House. She has the name recognition. She’s campaigned. It’s unseemly to push a black woman aside. It’s not OK.” Said Rep. Summer Lee (Democrat, Pennsylvania).
