Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, who faces a tough fight in November, will not accompany Biden to campaign in Wisconsin on Friday.

Biden’s campaign announced earlier this week that he would visit Madison, Wisconsin, marking the president’s first visit to the battleground state since his unsuccessful debate with former President Trump last month.

Senator Baldwin will not join Biden in Madison, according to a campaign spokesman. Instead, the senator will tour Wisconsin, visiting several Wisconsin counties, including Ashland, Oneida, Marinette, Brown, Door, Fond du Lac, Ozaukee and Dane.

“I’m really looking forward to starting the ‘Fired Up for Tammy’ tour.” “With the theme of our nation’s Independence Day, I will be meeting with voters across the state to talk about the ways we are working to protect our freedoms and find solutions to the domestic issues that matter most to Wisconsin families,” Baldwin said in announcing his campaign on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Baldwin said the tour had been planned for weeks and was announced before news of Biden’s visit broke.

Biden’s chief deputy campaign manager, Quentin Fulks, denied speculation that Biden might withdraw from the presidential race on Wednesday, emphasizing that he was planning a visit to the key battleground state of Wisconsin.

“Obviously, the 90-minute debate performance was poor, but that doesn’t define the record,” Fulks told CNN. “It doesn’t define President Biden’s vision, it doesn’t define the interviews he’s doing, it doesn’t define the campaign trail in Madison, Wisconsin on Friday.”

“From a campaign standpoint, we always hope that everything goes well, but if it doesn’t, I don’t think that will affect whether or not anyone continues to run for president of the United States,” he added.

After Biden’s debate performance, Baldwin reiterated to local media in Wisconsin that he supports the president.
