Thursday’s Golf Tips: The 5 best ways to remain cool, hydrated on the golf course

It’s July and the heat is here.

Golfers don’t mind the heat, they’ll play 18 holes regardless of the heat index, from raging storms to triple-digit temperatures, if someone books a tee time, they usually make it happen.

There are plenty of items golfers can bring on their carts to help them stay cool and hydrated.

If someone is bringing a caddie, think about them too. Pack a few bottles of water, extra cooling cloths, or anything else that will be helpful. Your caddie is usually walking around in 100 degree heat, so make your experience better by showing them some love. They will be more likely to appreciate it if you think about them in the heat.

Don’t forget to tip them if they’ve done a good job. Again, they’re walking around in the heat, chasing the ball. It’s the least you can do as a player.

So, without any further delay, let’s look at five things that can help players stay cool on the golf course and beat this heat.

5. A hat to protect you from the sun and good sunscreen

The first step to staying cool on the golf course is to wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun. Don’t forget the sunscreen, too. You need both to keep you cool and to protect your skin.

Bucket hats are great for providing shade to your face and neck, and Joel Dahmen still wears one after he had cancer at a young age.

There are also options for breathable hats to prevent your head from overheating.

There are a variety of sunscreens on the market, but my favorite is Supergoop, as this company has mineral and regular sunscreen options.

Supergoop sunscreen

SuperGoop is perfect for the golf course. It’s long-lasting, sweat-resistant, available in SPF 50 and 30, and is packed with antioxidants and other skin-friendly ingredients.

The sprays are great for the golf course, but their mineral SPF products for face & lips are great too.I’ve also included a “Play Bundle” because it’s a great way to try out the products.

Regardless of the brand of sunscreen, wearing a hat and applying sunscreen are essential for enjoying golf this summer.

4. Hydration Tools

Buy liquid drip packs and put them in your water bottle or electrolyte tablets. Hydration includes drinking water to replenish lost electrolytes.

Buy a pack of your favorite brand and pack it in your golf bag – you’ll have it on hand when you need that extra power.

3. Portable fan

Misting fans are great to have in the summer, especially when you’re on the golf course. They provide a constant breeze while spraying small amounts of water.

Portable Mist Fan

A portable misting fan that you can prop up on your golf cart is a summer essential, and this option has some great reviews and isn’t too expensive.

You can also use wearable cooling devices. These devices are worn around the neck and blow cool air around the head. Many women were wearing these at last year’s Tour Championship and they are also a great option for staying cool while playing golf. If you are interested in these devices, here is a link. 2. Cooling rugs/coolers

Many people know Frogtooth Chilly Pad Cooling Towelnow is the time to buy one. Also, keep a small cooler with ice in it. Soaking a towel in water will help dissipate the heat. This rag will keep you cool between shots and will last for hours.

A cooler is great for snacks and drinks, but you can also throw towels in it to keep things cold longer.

1. Emotional Support Water

Buy a water bottle and stay cool on the golf course. Embrace the spirit of Rickie Fowler and carry a 30-40 oz bottle. Don’t forget the stickers. They’re a must-have.

Staying hydrated is important in the summer, so make sure you drink plenty of water.

The heat can wear you down quickly, so it’s a good idea to drink plenty of fluids. But be careful: Many people like cold water, but drinking it on a hot day can be a shock to the body. Room temperature water may not be as refreshing, but it’s the most effective way to stay hydrated.

If you insist on drinking cold water, sip it slowly, not all at once, as this can also cause problems.

These are some things to do this summer to beat the heat and keep playing golf.
