A knife-wielding attacker killed his 8-year-old brother and stabbed his parents in a Queens apartment Thursday before being shot and killed by police, police said.
NYPD Commissioner John Chell said police were called to a “very small” unit at 147-25 94th Street in Jamaica just before 5:30 p.m. after the bleeding mother ran outside “begging for her life.”
Inside the home, officers found the 20-year-old attacker strangling his father over the kitchen sink and holding a knife to his neck, according to police and law enforcement sources.
“Officers gave repeated commands in English and Spanish to drop the knife, but the man refused. One of the officers fired one shot, hitting the target and saving the man’s life,” Chell said.
All four family members were rushed to hospital but the boy and the killer’s brother died from their injuries.
The 29-year-old mother and 43-year-old father are being treated for injuries.
An 8-month-old baby, who was in the same home, was unharmed amid the bloody carnage.
Police are still investigating to determine whether the suspect and the young victim were brothers or step-siblings and how the “tragic and horrific incident” unfolded.
The investigation is ongoing.
