Caitlin Clark Receives More WNBA All-Star Votes Than Any Other Player, Angel Reese Comes in Fifth

Angel Reese has often said that the WNBA’s recent surge in popularity isn’t just due to Kaitlyn Clark, but that she is also a factor in it. All-Star voters agree that Reese is important, they just think that Kaitlyn Clark is much more important.

The league released the results of its 2024 WNBA All-Star voting on Tuesday night, with Kaitlyn Clark coming in first with 700,735 votes. Angel Reese was fifth with 381,518 votes.

Clark also had a hand in helping teammate Aaliyah Boston finish second (618,680 votes) as her superior passing and ball distribution skills gave Boston more opportunities.

Clark leads all rookies in points (16.2) and assists (6.9) per game.

This year’s All-Star Game, to be held on July 20, is unique in that Clark and Reese will be on the same team. The two have been rivals since their high school days, and during their college years they faced off against each other twice in the postseason. This rivalry has not waned even in the professional league, and the three games played between Clark and Reese were the most highly-anticipated in WNBA history.

Those games also included their fair share of controversy, including Reese hitting Clark in the head as he was driving to the basket during the second matchup.

And who could forget Angel Reese applauding after Chennedi Carter sent Clark tumbling to the ground with a powerful blindside hit?

The WNBA All-Stars will face off against the Team USA All-Stars, giving Clark, Reese and the other players who didn’t make the national team a chance to prove the selection committee wrong.
