So far, voters seem ready for change. The EU elections saw a landslide victory for the populist right. In France, voters are abandoning the political center in favor of a far-right or far-left government. And in the UK, the center-right Conservative Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, faced an embarrassing defeat, signaling the decline of center-liberal conservatism.
But despite Biden’s plummeting approval ratings and farmers’ revolts across Europe, politicians are refusing to make any change.
“I’ve never seen a political cycle where people say, ‘Ouch, that hurts,’ and politicians say, ‘Oh, great, you want more? We’re not going to do that,'” Beck said. “It doesn’t make sense.”
Poulos agreed: “For many Americans, it’s a cognitive dissonance, because on the one hand we have a government that is totally out of control, that is globalizing itself, weaponizing technology against its own people, and trampling on our Constitution. And yet on the world stage, we seem weaker than we’ve ever been.”
