Trump Congratulates Nigel Farage on ‘Big WIN’ in British Election

President Trump took to social media early Friday morning to congratulate his friend Nigel Farage on becoming the first Member of the British Parliament.

Veteran political campaigner Nigel Farage is the first British Member of Parliament to serve in the European Union, a country that was part of the country for 20 years, from 1999 until he ushered in Britain’s departure from the EU in 2020. The prestigious award has long eluded Farage, who unsuccessfully ran for a seat in Westminster seven times.

But eighth time lucky this morning saw Mr Farage win an overwhelming majority with 24,000 votes – 56 per cent of the vote in the seaside constituency of Clacton, a key pro-Brexit area.

Donald J. Trump congratulated his friend Farage on Friday morning, writing on Truth Social: “Congratulations Nigel Farage on your huge victory in winning seats.”

The former president also praised the wider “electoral success of Reform UK”, which rose from one seat to four in a surprise general election in the face of a hostile political establishment, and praised Mr Farage as a true patriot.

“Nigel is a true country lover!” Trump wrote.

Britain’s new MPs will begin being sworn in next week. Outgoing Chancellor Rishi Sunak resigned on Friday morning, saying that while Farage’s leadership had arguably hastened his departure, he also believed that as a Conservative member, he bore full responsibility for his own leadership fiasco, which has sparked a backlash from voters.
