Fans of “Wheel of Fortune” are sharing their thoughts about the upcoming season, which will see Ryan Seacrest replace longtime host Pat Sajak.
Earlier this week, the show’s official Instagram The account shared a promo for the 42nd season, and longtime fans of the show seem to have mixed reactions to the new host.
In a promotional video, Seacrest tells co-host Vana White that he “can’t wait to get to work.”

“Let’s get ready for fall,” White replied, before leading the host through various exercises to prepare for the upcoming season.

“I’m sick of watching Ryan Seacrest,” one follower commented on the post. “Surely there must be someone else who can host.”
“I’ve never liked Seacrest. It’s been 40 years and I’m not going to watch Wheel anymore,” wrote another, who pointed out that Sajak’s daughter Maggie or “anyone but Seacrest would be fine.”
However, others were quick to support the “American Idol” host.

“It was hard when Alex Trebek passed away and I wasn’t sure what Jeopardy would be like without him, but Ken Jennings is doing a good job,” one fan commented. “I wasn’t sure what The Price is Right would be like when Bob Barker retired, but Drew Carey is doing a good job. Bottom line, I’ve seen other hosts take over from legendary game show hosts, so I’m interested to see what Ryan does here. Besides hosting, this isn’t the first time Ryan has hosted a game show created by Merv Griffin, and I’d love to see him elevated to one of my most beloved shows.”
“Ryan you’d make a great host,” another wrote. “Will watch.”
“I can’t pretend I don’t understand why a lot of people are unhappy with Ryan Seacrest being the new host of WOF but personally I’m not interested in him and I’m going to give him a chance,” another follower commented. “Ryan you can do it. Make Pat proud!”

Sajak announced he was leaving the show in June 2023. A week later, Seacrest Take over as host Season 42.
After Sajak’s final episode aired last month, Seacrest Social media To say goodbye to the longtime host.
“Congratulations, Pat, on your incredible run on Wheel of Fortune! Your dedication, charm and wit have made this show a beloved part of American television for decades,” he wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of himself, Sajak and White. “Your partnership with Vanna has been truly iconic and together you have created countless amazing memories for our viewers. You set the standard for hosts around the world and this marks the end of an era. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors!”
In Sajak’s final episode, taped in April, Sajak A moving farewell speech.
“Now, it’s time to say goodbye,” he said. “Before I go, I want to offer a few thanks and acknowledgements. First, I want to say to all of you watching here: It has been an incredible honor to be invited into millions of homes every night, every year, for decades.”
“I’ve always felt that with this privilege comes a responsibility to keep 30 minutes each day a safe place for families to enjoy,” Sajak continued. “It doesn’t address social issues, it doesn’t address politics, it doesn’t address anything embarrassing, it’s just games.”
Pat Sajak’s next job comes with an “intact” reputation: “He’s always going to be in the spotlight.”
“But it slowly became much more than that,” he added. “It became a place where children learned to read, where people from other countries improved their English, and where families, friends, neighbors and people of all generations could gather.”
“It’s truly an honor to be a small part of all of it,” Sajak concluded, “and I’m so grateful that you’ve allowed me into your lives.”
The 42nd season of “Wheel of Fortune” is set to premiere this fall.
