NYC dead body found in sleeping bag atop dolly on Manhattan sidewalk

Police said a body was found wrapped in a sleeping bag on top of a dolly on a Manhattan sidewalk on Friday evening.

According to the NYPD, the horrifying discovery was made after police were called to investigate a “suspicious package” outside 207 East 27th Street in Kips Bay around 5pm.

The sleeping bag had been left among several black garbage bags that had been placed on the sidewalk for collection.

“Whoever did it seemed to have a hard time wrapping it up and getting it out,” local resident Ted Ehmke told the Post.

“But I was quite surprised to see it just left amongst regular trash, as if the sanitation department had collected it and taken it away,” Oemke said, posting videos and photos on social media of officers surrounding the sleeping bag.

Ohmke said he thought he saw the top of the head as he was passing by the scene.

“You see people sleeping around here all the time,” he said. “They looked like bodies lying on the ground. The people you see around here aren’t dead, but they could be half dead, so I guess it wasn’t that shocking.”

Another local resident said he was disturbed by the sight of the abandoned bodies.

“It’s a bit scary because we don’t see them much in this area,” Marina Alves said.

The individual’s identity, including his age and gender, has not yet been released.
