President Joe Biden, 81, had a “verbal check-in” with his physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, after the debate, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday. Biden had told reporters earlier this week that he had not had a recent medical check.
“He recently had a short verbal consultation about a cold, but it was not a medical examination or physical exam,” Jean-Pierre said. “It was a conversation, and the doctor determined that no tests were necessary.”
Jean-Pierre said the doctor’s call was “not unusual,” adding that Biden has a medical unit with him around the clock.

“This is not just because of this president, this has been true of previous presidents, and it’s a very different experience than what we understand the American people are experiencing,” she said.
After Biden was reported to have told Democratic governors in a closed-door meeting at the White House this week that he wasn’t getting enough sleep and had to stop working after 8 p.m., Jean-Pierre told reporters on Air Force One en route to a rally in Wisconsin that Biden was a “human being” and took a “balanced approach.”
“He’s a human being just like the rest of us,” she said, “but this is a 24/7 job. 365 days a year. That doesn’t change.”

Jean-Pierre was pressed about the president’s health during a press conference on Wednesday, and he clarified to reporters that Biden has not had any medical check-ups since his last annual physical in February.
“Has the president had any medical checkups since his last annual physical in February?” CNN’s Min Jong “MJ” Lee asked.
