New Hampshire teen jumps onto out-of-control boat after sailing instructor falls overboard

A New Hampshire teenager was captured on video jumping off a jet ski to stop an out-of-control boat after a sailing instructor was thrown overboard last week.

When 17-year-old Brady Prokon was told by his father, Jeremy, that an unmanned boat was circling at high speed in Smith Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee, he sprang into action.

“I was sitting on the porch and my dad yelled out that there was an out-of-control boat in the wake area,” the boy said. He told WMUR-TV.

Prokon told the media that the driver of the boat, who belongs to the local sailing association, was a sailing instructor who was teaching children how to sail at the time.

According to the media, the instructor was bending down to grab a tennis ball used to show the children how to turn when the children’s boat capsized and the mast hit the instructor’s throttle.

Procon told the media that he “wasn’t really thinking anything of it” when he hopped on the back of a neighbour’s jet ski and approached the out-of-control boat.

The video shows Procon jumping into a speeding boat and bringing the vessel to a halt.

“It’s a bit scary when you realise what you’ve done, but it was fun and I’d like to do it again,” Prokon told the media.

There were no immediate reports of injuries related to the incident.
