Possible Boat Explosion at Haulover Sandbar Injures Multiple People

A potential boat explosion at Haulover Sandbar, a well-known tourist destination in North Miami Beach, Florida, resulted in injuries to over a dozen individuals on Saturday.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reported that 11 people were transported to local hospitals for medical attention, though the exact number of those injured hasn’t been disclosed yet.

As of 5 p.m., the conditions of the victims remained unclear.

Fire crews sent more than 25 units to the location shortly after 12:55 p.m., which included 21 fire boats, marine rescue teams, and other agencies such as the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Interestingly, officials have yet to confirm whether an explosion actually occurred.

In a somewhat alarming reminder, fire officials stated, “We are in the middle of boating season and would like to remind our community members to always prioritize safety while on the water. Make sure your vessel is equipped with an effective fire extinguisher and all necessary safety equipment. Perform a thorough safety inspection before setting sail to ensure the boat is in good working condition and free of potential hazards.”

They noted, “By taking a few extra precautions, you can prevent emergencies and keep everyone safe.”

Neither the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office nor the Miami Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) provided further comments to inquiries from various sources.

This story is still in development, and updates are expected as more information becomes available.
