Douglas Emhoff, husband of Kamala Harris, tests positive for COVID-19

The White House announced Sunday that Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The second gentleman’s office noted in a statement that Emhoff tested positive on Saturday “after experiencing mild symptoms.”

“He has received his full vaccination schedule and three booster doses,” the statement said. “He is currently asymptomatic, continues to work remotely and remains at home away from others.”

The press release also noted that Vice President Kamala Harris recently tested negative for the virus.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Vice President was tested for COVID-19 yesterday,” the statement added. “The test came back negative and he remains asymptomatic.”

Emhoff and Harris were photographed standing near President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden at the White House’s Independence Day celebration on Thursday.

Fox News Digital asked the White House whether Biden had been tested for the virus but did not immediately receive a response.

The second man’s infection came nearly three and a half years after the COVID-19 pandemic began. In early June, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned that coronavirus infections were “increasing or possibly increasing” in 44 states and territories.

“Certain areas, including California, are experiencing a surge in infections due to the so-called FLiRT variants KP.3, KP.2 and KP.1,” he explained. “It may spread to other states in the future.”

Siegel explained that the new COVID 1-10 variants remain “immune evasive,” affecting even people who already have immunity.

President Biden was joined at the White House Juneteenth celebration by actor Billy Porter, Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff, and Philonise Floyd.
