Missing Woman in Bahamas: Investigation Details Surface

A friend of Brian Hooker revealed that the missing American woman’s husband possessed a high-tech thermal camera worth $33,000 on his boat during the incident but did not utilize it in the search for her.

After leaving the shores of Hope Town, Bahamas, around 7:30 p.m. on April 4, Brian Hooker claimed that rough seas caused his wife to fall from their dinghy. He managed to row back to Marsh Harbor, arriving at around 4 a.m. on April 5.

The couple was returning to their yacht, named Soulmate, which had become their home post-retirement. Their social media profiles suggested they often sailed both in the United States and Caribbean waters.

According to Daniel Danforth, a friend of the couple, the boat had a thermal camera system that Brian Hooker could have used to search for Lynette.

“It’s a pretty cool feature that many boats lack—a FLIR system. It not only has night vision but can detect heat signatures, which could have been crucial during the search,” Danforth explained.

Danforth recalled meeting the Hookers in 2023 in New Orleans, where Brian expressed confidence in the safety provided by their camera system. He noted how it tracked movement automatically, setting a temperature threshold to monitor figures nearby.

In a message sent to Danforth on April 6, Hooker indicated that Lynette had attempted to swim back to the yacht after the fall.

Danforth stated he informed the Coast Guard about the thermal camera at the beginning of May, prior to the CGIS seizing the Soulmate boat between May 8 and 10. An active criminal investigation into Lynette’s disappearance has since been initiated by the Coast Guard.

After spending five days in police custody, Brian Hooker returned to the U.S. to care for his ill mother, though he has not faced any charges. His attorney has urged the public to approach the situation with empathy, underscoring that everyone copes with crises differently.

FOX News Digital has reached out to both Hooker’s lawyer and the Coast Guard for further comments.
