Two leading Democratic Party advisers are reportedly hatching a plan to replace President Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election through a “lightning primary” before the party’s August convention.
according to SemaphoresThe plan was created by Rosa Brooks, a former senior official in the Obama and Clinton administrations and now a Georgetown University law professor, and venture capitalist and donor Ted Dintersmith.
Their plan has also been circulated among Democratic donors and fundraisers, as well as Biden campaign and administration officials, according to the outlet.

The plan reportedly includes:
— Biden dropped out of the Democratic nomination in mid-July and announced the new system with the support of Vice President Kamala Harris.
— Candidates have “several days” to run.
— The Democratic Party begins its primary “sprint,” with the six candidates who receive the most delegate votes pledging to run “only positive campaigning” in the month leading up to the convention.
— Hosting weekly forums with each candidate, moderated by “cultural icons” such as Michelle Obama, Oprah or Taylor Swift, to engage voters.
— Candidates will be selected by delegates before the Chicago convention begins on August 19 and announced “with great fanfare on the third day of the meeting.”
— The nominees are announced on stage alongside Biden, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
— Biden has been hailed as a “modern-day George Washington.”
According to Semaphore, the memo read, “We can be hobbled by an avoidable, humiliating defeat that ends our democracy. Or the Democratic Party can make this our finest moment. We ask for Almighty God’s help, but He helps those who help themselves. We need to act. Now.”

“We’ve had an almost universal outpouring of support from those who sent the memo,” Brooks told Semaphore.
A Biden campaign spokesman responded that Biden would continue to campaign, noted that major donors had given their maximum contributions last week and asserted that grassroots fundraising remained strong.
