Karen Read jurors had ‘agreement’ to acquit her of killing cop boyfriend, lawyers claim

Karen Reed’s defense argued Monday that before the judge issued a mistrial, some jurors had “agreed” to find her not guilty of killing her Boston police officer boyfriend.

His lawyers asked the judge to dismiss charges of second-degree murder and leaving the scene of an accident.

According to Boston 25 News, Reed’s defense team said they received “ex parte communication” from three of the 12 jurors during the weeks-long trial, which “clearly indicated that the jury was in firm agreement, 12-0, that Reed was not guilty of two of the three charges, including second-degree murder.”

Monday’s filing also said the jury unanimously believes Reed is not guilty of count three, leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
