A Mexican “witch” believed to have ties to a drug cartel was killed on June 30 after trying to kidnap a baby from its parents in order to sacrifice it.
The woman, identified as 33-year-old Maria Guadalupe RM, was allegedly trying to use the child’s death as a sacrifice to Santa Muerte (“Holy Death”), the cartel’s patron saint. Daily Mail report Monday, citing Norte Digital article.

Before the attempted kidnapping, the woman told her nephew, the baby’s father, that she believed a deceased family member had been reincarnated as the baby and had broken into the Juarez home to take the baby.
However, the woman’s 23-year-old nephew, identified as Carlos Gabriel CR, reportedly killed her with a baseball bat.
“Two unidentified men, who remain at large, were also inside the house to assist Guadalupe in kidnapping her son, but were chased away after neighbours alerted police to the situation,” the report continued, noting that Guadalupe was allegedly a practicing devil worshipper.
“She also had ties to Los Mexicles, a notorious armed street gang of the Sinaloa drug cartel once led by drug lord El Chapo Guzman, who Mexican authorities have confirmed is imprisoned in the United States.” Post “The baby was injured in the incident,” the article said.
The father turned himself in, but was released after authorities determined he acted in self-defense.
In a 2013 article published on the FBI website, Dr. Robert J. Bunker wrote: I have written On Mexico’s Drug War:
One element involves the rise of the cult of Santa Muerte (literally translated as “Holy Death”) and its gang narcoculture offshoots.2 This cult variant promotes a greater level of criminality than older, more mainstream forms of Santa Muerte worship, sometimes going so far as to condone morally depraved acts that many see as the result of a perverse value system that places self-interest above all else, deliberately inflicts pain and suffering on others, and even considers murder an act of pleasure.
of Post The article noted that the Catholic Church had condemned a “saint” called Santa Muerte.
Breitbart News reported in 2019 that local and military forces in Mexico City conducted major raids, uncovering tunnels and caches where drug cartels were dealing drugs, weapons, and practicing witchcraft.
“During the searches, authorities found various shrines used for witchcraft rituals, where human remains were apparently used as offerings and decorations,” the news agency reported.
