As concerns about President Joe Biden’s mental health reach new heights, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre appeared grim during a press conference on Monday after being grilled by reporters about whether a Parkinson’s disease expert had made multiple visits to the White House.
Jean-Pierre confirmed that Biden has met with the neurologist three times since taking office as part of his annual physical exams, but did not publicly confirm whether Dr. Kevin Canard, a Parkinson’s disease specialist at Walter Reed Medical Center, met with Dr. Kevin O’Connor and two others at the White House residence clinic. New York Post.
As Jean-Pierre continued to avoid reporters’ questions about Canard’s visit, citing “security” reasons, as shown in White House visitor logs, CBS News’ Ed O’Keefe, frustrated with the White House’s lack of candor about Biden’s health, engaged in a tense exchange with Jean-Pierre.
“What are the security reasons? This weird misinformation is making the storyline worse.”
“That much should be able to be answered at this point,” O’Keefe said.
“No, no, no, hold on a second. Ed, please. Have a little respect. And the president sees a neurologist every year,” Jean-Pierre replied.
“I can’t name names,” Jean-Pierre said after O’Keefe pointed out that he hadn’t answered the question. “We can’t publicly announce the names of experts, from dermatologists to neurologists,” she said. “I understand what you’re saying, Ed, and we have to respect their privacy, so we can’t confirm anything to them, and I think they would appreciate that.”
“This is public information, and until the White House answers this question, you’ve prolonged this issue,” O’Keefe interjected, noting that the White House provided incorrect information and then had to correct it days later.
After Jean-Pierre finished his debate with O’Keefe, other reporters tried to ask the White House to review the visitor records, but Jean-Pierre repeatedly asserted “security” concerns about restating public information and refused to budge.
“Karine Jean-Pierre refuses to answer why Parkinson’s disease experts met multiple times with President Biden’s physician, citing ‘security reasons.’ What security reasons? This bizarre misinformation is compounding the story,” said Kayleigh McEnany, Trump’s former press secretary. Said About X.
