Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said he has asked President Joe Biden’s physician to appear before the committee and participate in a “recorded interview.”
In the press release: issued Comer said Sunday that the committee was “concerned” that Dr. Kevin O’Connor’s “medical evaluation” of Biden may have been “influenced” by his “personal business” involvement with the Biden family.
The committee’s press release came after Biden’s lackluster performance in the presidential debate with former President Donald Trump on June 27. Following the debate, several Democrats, donors and voters have advocated for replacing Biden and questioned whether he can serve another term as president.
“Following concerns about President Biden’s performance in the June 27 debate between former President Donald Trump, journalists rushed to report what Americans have seen clearly for years: The president seems unwell,” Comer wrote. letter To O’Connor: “The American people have doubts about President Biden’s ability to lead the nation, and the Oversight and Accountability Committee is investigating how you assessed in February of this year that ‘President Biden is a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old man who is physically capable of successfully executing the duties of the office of the presidency.'”
Comer added that it had recently come to light that O’Connor never encouraged the president “to take a cognitive test.”
“The Oversight Committee is concerned that your medical examination was influenced by your private business activities with the Biden family,” Comer continued.

In a letter to O’Connor, Comer wrote:
Evidence recently obtained by the Committee indicates that you and James Biden are involved with Americore Health LLC (Americore). James Biden, the President’s brother, used Americore funds to pay Joe Biden $200,000 at a time when the company was in financial difficulty.
Americore was a company that operated rural hospitals and is currently in bankruptcy proceedings. As part of the impeachment investigation into the Biden family influence scheme, the Committee interviewed Carol Fox, Americore’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy trustee, in December 2023. While representing Americore, James Biden received $400,000 and $200,000 payments from the company that were considered loans and deposited directly into his bank account. James Biden “procured a $600,000 loan from Americore based on the explanation that his last name, ‘Biden,’ could ‘open doors’ and that he could obtain large investments from the Middle East based on his political connections.” On March 1, 2018, the same day James Biden received a $200,000 wire transfer from Americore into his bank account, James Biden wrote his brother Joe Biden a check for $200,000 as a “loan repayment.”
Comer further noted that a February 2024 “transcribed interview with James Biden” revealed that O’Connor had “advised Biden” on his work at AmeriCorre.
“In order to understand the extent of your involvement in the Biden family’s financial activities, we request all documents and communications in your possession relating to Americore and James Biden,” the letter said, adding that O’Connor should be “scheduled for an interview” by July 14.
After conducting Biden’s annual medical exam, O’Connor revealed in February that Biden continues to suffer from neuropathy in his feet and problems walking.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she had been asked recently whether Biden had been undergoing medical checkups since February. CNNJean-Pierre said after speaking with Biden’s doctor, the answer is “no.”
According to the media, a White House official said the president had a “brief check-up” with a doctor after the debate.
